Saira graduated summa cum laude from Tufts University in 2021 with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and Spanish. As an undergraduate, Saira worked in the Shin and Sommers Laboratory at Tufts on a study about textbook learning, as well as with Dr. Luana Bruno at the University of Alcalá in Madrid on a study about the daily expression, management and regulation of emotions in bilingual individuals. Additionally, she spent a summer doing research at McLean Hospital's Center for Depression, Anxiety and Stress Research. Her research interests include the study of the mechanisms and treatment of affective and anxiety disorders, as well as their psychotherapeutic interventions (or other alternative treatments to medication). After her time at the DCRP, Saira plans to pursue a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology, with a focus on mood and anxiety disorders in adolescents and adults. She also hopes to use her multilingual skills to work with underserved foreign populations in the coming years.
