Dr. Richard Liu is a licensed clinical psychologist at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH). He is an Associate Professor at Harvard Medical School, the Director of Suicide Research in the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at MGH, and Director of Big Data Studies at the DCRP. His research program focuses on characterizing dynamic processes of risk underlying onset and recurrence of self-injurious thoughts and behaviors and depression in youth and young adults. He has received grants to support his work from the National Institute of Mental Health, the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, and the American Psychological Foundation. He has also served as an invited expert panelist at meetings held by the National Institute of Mental Health on preadolescent suicide. He is currently an Associate Editor at the Journal of Psychopathology and Clinical Science and Behavior Therapy, and he serves as a Consulting Editor at Clinical Psychological Science and the Journal of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology.
