Peripheral Neuroimmune Mechanisms of Hyperthermia

Past research indicates that one session of whole-body hyperthermia (WBH), which involves whole-body heating in a sauna-like environment, can lead to a significant improvement in depressive symptoms. The purpose of this study is to understand more about how this treatment works. In order to test this, we will conduct blood draws before and after a session in a WBH device and collect data from self-report questionnaires and clinical interviews with study staff. We will also collect biological data such as heart rate, quality of sleep, and everyday activity with a device called the Oura ring (this looks and feels like a regular ring that you will wear around your finger). The entire study will take 4 weeks to complete.
