Emergency resources

Non-emergency resources

Massachusetts General Hospital

  • DCRP Treatment-Resistant Depression Initiative (TRDi) TRDi is a clinical consultation program led by Dr. Amit Chopra that offers multi-disciplinary treatment recommendations to patients with TRD. TRDi offers consultations to adults (18+) with TRD who currently have a psychiatrist or primary care physician prescribing psychiatric medication. A referral form completed by the prescribing physician may be required to schedule this consultation.
    • Consultation requirements include:  
      • Ongoing prescriber of psychiatric medications (primary care physician or psychiatrist) in the Mass General Brigham Healthcare System
      • At least 2 failed antidepressant medication trials of adequate dose and duration (at least 6 weeks)
      • Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) ≥ 15, at least moderate level of depression
    • MGB physicians can make a referral in EPIC: AMB referral to MGH Adult Psychiatry Main Campus: REF12267 MGH Psych – For Type of Referral, select Treatment Resistant Depression Initiative (one-time consultation only). Questions can be directed to the DCRP Resource Specialist at 617-726-8727.
  • Clay Center for Young Healthy Minds
    Resource with timely information relating to child and adolescent mental health issues, including depression.

  • Patient and Family Resource Center, Department of Psychiatry
    Information about depression and other mental health issues, with links to helpful resources for people who are affected, their family, friends, and caregivers.

  • Women’s Mental Health Program
    Information and resources about premenstrual dysphoric disorder, psychiatric disorders and treatments during pregnancy, postpartum, and breastfeeding; perimenopause; and psychiatric medications.

Community Behavioral Health Centers (CBHC) 

CBHCs are available throughout Massachusetts, offering immediate care for mental health and substance use needs. Crisis intervention services are available, no insurance is needed.

American Foundation for Suicide Prevention: Resources, news, and locations of local support groups for people in crisis, people concerned about a loved one, and others affected by or working to prevent suicide.

American Psychiatric Association: Information about common mental health conditions and their treatment, including videos, blogs, and downloadable brochures.

American Psychological Association: Psychology Help Center provides Information about psychological issues, psychotherapy, mind/body approaches, and other treatment options for mental health care. Resources include reports and videos.

Anxiety and Depression Association of America (ADAA) Therapist Directory: The licensed mental health providers listed in this directory specialize in anxiety, depression, OCD, PTSD, and related disorders. All providers listed are professional members of ADAA who have chosen to be included in this database.

Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (ABCT) Find a CBT Therapist: ABCT's Find-a-Therapist service gives you access to therapists trained in cognitive and behavioral techniques. The practitioners that participate in this service practice in private practice, clinics, hospitals, and community mental health settings.

Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (formerly MDDA): Information on mood disorders; local and national support groups, programs, and publications; and relevant news and research updates.

National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI): Nonprofit organization offering education, support, and advocacy for people with mental illness, their families, and friends.

National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH): Information on depression causes, symptoms, and treatments. Also features blogs, case studies, and publications.

National Network of Depression Centers: Network of 21 clinical and academic Centers of Excellence in the US providing education, research, clinical care delivery, and community outreach in the field of depressive illnesses and related mood disorders.

Psychology Today: Find a therapist by your area, insurance, and other preferences.

Therapy for Black Girls: Connect with providers in your area whose therapeutic approach is grounded in a culturally competent perspective.  

The Loveland Foundation: Provides financial assistance to Black women and girls who seeking therapy. 

 

LGBTQ Support Services

National Queer & Trans Therapists of Color Network: Search for providers who approach therapy within a framework of healing justice (intersection of mental health field and movements for social justice).
